🕊️ In a tiny Italian village, democracy just got its wings. A pigeon named Giovanni won a mock mayoral election with 57% of the vote—beating out corrupt officials without saying a word. Locals now call him Mayor Feathers, complete with a tiny ribbon and zero political scandals (so far). Meanwhile in Wales, toast is being "deconstructed" for $12, and Finland’s newest art show features... absolutely nothing. Strange times? Definitely. But oddly refreshing.

Some birds soar. Some coo. And one, apparently, governs.

In the picturesque (read: delightfully sleepy) village of San Pietro di Cosezza in southern Italy, democracy just took a whimsical, feathered turn. During a local festival, residents held a mock mayoral election a cheeky, symbolic protest against their town’s notoriously corrupt leadership. The idea? Write in anyone’s name, fictional or real.

Enter Giovanni a plump, street-smart pigeon who’s called the village square home for years. Somehow, someway, Giovanni won 57% of the vote. That’s right. A bird is now technically mayor.

Locals wasted no time crowning their unexpected leader. They fashioned a tiny ceremonial ribbon, tied it gently around his leg, and have since dubbed him “Mayor Feathers.” He now roosts atop the town fountain like a majestic, mildly confused monarch.

Protest or Performance?

At its core, this wasn’t just small-town silliness it was sharp satire. The vote was a feathery jab at entrenched corruption, absentee officials, and local bureaucracy that’s become, well… for the birds. As one resident put it:

“At least Giovanni shows up to the square every day. That’s more than we can say about the last mayor.”

Giovanni has not issued any statements yet, but sources say he is deeply invested in seed redistribution and supports greater access to breadcrumbs for all.

🥖 Wales Goes Full Artisan

A bakery in Cardiff is making headlines (and raising eyebrows) after launching a $12 menu item called “Deconstructed Toast.”
What do you get? A slice of bread, a pat of butter, and a butter knife served unassembled on a wooden board. “It’s about the experience,” the owner insists. Social media, predictably, had thoughts.

🎨 Finland’s Sold-Out Museum Exhibit Is… Invisible

Yes, really. The Museum of Nothing in Helsinki has launched an exhibition on invisible art.
Visitors are greeted by empty frames, blank pedestals, and an audio guide that talks about pieces that don’t physically exist. Tickets? Completely sold out.
Critics call it a bold exploration of absence. Others call it “paying to stare at air.”

In a world this strange, maybe a pigeon mayor isn’t the weirdest thing. At least he’s honest, silent, and doesn’t tweet scandals.

Stay weird, stay curious and if you ever feel like nothing makes sense anymore, just remember: somewhere in Italy, a pigeon is wearing a ribbon of office and probably doing a better job than expected.
