Some towns plant trees. Others build parks. But the small Italian village of Calameo decided to do something truly unique — it made boredom illegal.
According to the mayor, the new “Anti-Boredom Initiative” requires every resident to host or participate in at least one creative activity per month. Art classes, community dances, goat races — anything goes, as long as it brings joy and laughter. The town hall even hands out “excitement fines” for those who refuse to join the fun.
Since the law passed, Calameo has transformed into a quirky hub of constant festivities. Tourists visit just to see what the locals will do next — from synchronized pizza tossing to a 24-hour laughter marathon.
And while some call it ridiculous, others say the world could use a few more “illegal dull moments.”
